Posts to the game:

I eliminated Castenada pretty early with a stack of 2 Trolls, 1 T3, 2 T2 and my Leader, coming out of the subterraneans, razing everything and then getting in again. Then I focused on eliminating the only other players who had started in the underground, to avoid being attacked in my domain later on. Mauvebutterfly retreated in front of my army and I took all his cities, then he got killed by independant. At the same time, AlX was being harassed and eliminated by ExNihil. As ExNihil was getting stronger (Monoculture), I decided to attack him and raze as much cities as possible so my secondary army attacked him at the opposite of where I assumed his main stack was (where AlX was). It worked well and I went back in the subterraneans before his main army arrived (I saw his Leader stack before his Leader got lvl 11 and invisible). Then at some point, ExNihil made the mistake to venture close to the entry of the underground where I was lurking, I came out and killed him (he made a second bigger mistake: split his stacks so that I could take then 2 by 2 instead of 3 at the same time). He then surrendered partly due to real life reason. Otherwise he would clearly have ended up at least 2nd and the fight would have been much longer and unsure. Grolop was probably one of the weakest player (sorry Grolop, no offense ) but was left alone a while as Castaneda was eliminated first and was the only player next to him. I just took very easily all his surface cities while he was attacking the cities Mauve had at the beginning. Eventually I neared on him with many units, T4 and all and crushed him in an epic battle.

My first time playing a PBEM game, and I definitely learned a lot from all the other players. Hopefully I'll do better next time.

I was surprised goblins and necromancer were so popular.

Yes, there was a bug with the classes / races of everyone but me. I've just corrected that manually.

FYI, I was actually Goblin Necromancer, not Frostling Necromancer.

Enjoyed the game.  Though an early aggressive mistake sent
my wizard to the void which slowed things way down.  Not
much action till the end when I was way behind.

The pace was much better than I expected after seeing the
timezone order.  Thanks to all the other players for their quick
pace.  <smiletext0>

Olop, it's ok you can play your turn on v1.7.

v1.7 is released on GoG and SeeR agreed we play on v1.7 for the rest of the tournament.

Thanks ExNihil. I'm quite embarassed it happened though! Hope it won't happen again (though misclicking is my constant fear when I'm playing PBEM - as I don't play live MP, otherwise I would fear it even more in live -).
I send additional screenshots to SeeR by email, to be transparent about it.

EDIT: by the way, I laughed when I received that:

Ok,

so after seeing the screenshot,

I confirm the reload, and I suggest that in cases of such misclicking it will be ok to reload games - players shouldn't lose games because of such stupid mistakes, they happen to everybody from time to time.

I sent you the printscreen through the MP system here, did you get it?
I cut it a lot to avoid giving you unecessary information but I can also give a bigger one to SeeR and / or to you (e.g. the wider map for you).

The missclick is pretty big, it's not an error of placement for the fight, it's like 3 hexes in the wrong direction. <smiletext6>

You are asking for permission to reload for an optimal fight sequence to kill my forces since you misclicked and moved wrong and are now exposed and will lose units? hmmmm. Well, sure send me a print screen in steam, through dropbox and I'll try to oblige you, if nothing else just for the audacity <smiletext0>

Hiliadan >> Missclick
I just made a missclick after moving one group of units. <smiletext6> I was looking at one area with some units selected and then I clicked inadvertently. Now my groups are split and I will surely lose some units because of that.
I asked ExNihil by MP if I can take this back as it mainly concerns him. I'm going to send him the screenshot.

Sure, NP about the timer I'm fine with 2 days.

As for the problem - I didn't reload. It's like with turn 4 or 5 (can't recall which), I haven't actually finished my turn (in that instance I haven't even began it really!), but it for some reason considered it a reload. Since the timer did keep going down - same problem, I said f-it, and play'd it through. Hope it's no prob.

ExNihil said to me by PM we could go back to 1 turn timer. I'm going on business trip tomorrow so I'd rather keep 2 days until next Thursday, but I think I should be able to play every day.

Also, counter of turns reloaded (+ the ones I may have missed before I started the counter at the end of August):
2 ExNihil

I'm not sure to understand what was the issue with the timer ExNihil this time. You said to me "cuz the timer kept going down." What do you mean?
Anyway, I don't think there is any issue with your reloading this time but I'd just like to understand what issue there was with the timer.

Hey mauvebutterfly, yep, look like you left with me alone with these 2 other killers!

Actually, the data is visible to everyone and its use is to 1/ make a match report to see who played what and 2/ generate stats that you can see there:  http://www.the-battlefield.co... />
So when the game is finished, the winner will report the classes / races for everyone and our game will be added to the overall stats.

mauvebutterfly >> Website Question
So, I just did something incredibly stupid and eliminated myself. First time ever playing a PBEM game, so I shouldn't be too surprised I guess. (My one other game is taking over a week per turn with 8 players, so I'm not counting that one.)

I was curious about the functionality of this website though. If I mark player information above, that should only be visible to me, right? I just set myself to goblin/druid to test if it saves, but I am assuming that the purpose of the chart is for me to record information for personal use.

Also, sorry I couldn't give people a better game. Maybe next time.

Sure, the game crash was AoW3.exe crashing - I am playing in window mode and this sometimes happens for some obscure reason.

As for using the msg functions here - I'll keep that in mind next time. Also, I hosted an FFA PBEM game now if any of you guys is interesting <smiletext0> - but pls do mind the time slots, so if its best that non-europeans join last I guess.

ExNihil reported he would be on business trip frop September 6 to 11 and asked for a turn timer of 2 days. So we'll do that during that period.

Also, counter of turn reloaded (I may have missed some):
1 ExNihil (@ExNihil: even if the game crashes, if you had loaded the turn once, it counts as reloading; the best is to provide a screenshot of the crash but it may not always be possible)

mauvebutterfly >> Fewer Delays
Thanks for all your work coordinating this Hiliadan.

As I reported on the AoW3 forums, I was unable to play from home for the past week and had to make use of PC cafes in order to play my turns. I am back home now, and estimate that my turns should be done more promptly from now on.

Given sleep schedules and the like, I doubt we will ever get more than one turn per day, but every little bit helps I guess.

Hiliadan >> Absences?
Hi everyone!

I wanted to check when some of you may be away and unable to play their turns in the current 24h turn time?
If noticed in advance, I can extend the turn timer to allow you to play your turn on an exceptional basis.

By the way, it looks like we have a shitty turn order, the turns go very slowly. In my other competitive game, we do like 1 turn / day...

NO BETA?
I was asked to fill in the last slot for this game, but I see that it says NO BETA in the instructions.

I am running the beta version currently for another PBEM game I am involved in. I'm pretty sure that the versions are incompatible, so if I understand this correctly, I would like to drop out of this match.

Sorry for the complications. EDIT: Apparently opting in and out of beta is easily done, so there shouldn't be any problems with this match. I look forward to the game!
